This past weekend was the last weekend of Art Prize 2013, the world's largest cash prize art fair. $560,000 in total cash prizes are distributed to winning pieces of art ($360,000 is awarded by public vote and the remaining $200,000 is awarded by a jury). This is the fifth annual Art Prize (the first being in 2009), and it is pretty cool to see downtown Grand Rapids come alive with people of all ages and walks of life spending time with family and friends to check out all of the exhibits scattered around downtown GR.

Unfortunately, I was only able to spend one afternoon visiting the exhibitions, but I was still fortunate enough to be able to see many very good submissions. It would be nice if some of the art stayed downtown for a while, not just for the duration of the art fair. In any case, I included several pictures of some of the coolest things I saw today.
